Your alpacas will soon be happily grazing the fields again, meanwhile their fibre ends up bagged and waiting and often stored until next shearing season.
So… what can you do with all that fibre? Turns out, a lot! From improving your herd to creating beautiful products, there is so much potential wrapped up in those fleeces.
The SEAG committee have enlisted a UK BAS Judge, so we’re delighted that Jo Bridge (from Hilly Ridge Alpacas) has agreed to run a friendly and informal one-day hands-on practical course for us, that will dive into everything related to fibre.
Join us from 10.30am to 4.30pm, on Saturday 5th July 2025, at the Church Hall next to St John the Baptist Church in the Surrey Hills (roughly 20 minutes from the M25). It’s a non-profit making event, at just £20 for members and £30 for non-members. Bring a couple of your fleeces along if you like for judges assessment and apply your knowledge as you go!
The “All about Fibre” course includes:
You will get a mix of classroom learning and hands on experience, perfect whether you are new to Alpacas or want to learn more.
Join us to explore everything your Alpaca fibre can become! We really do need a minimum of 10 participants to go ahead to cover costs. We’re expecting this event will be popular, so if you’re thinking of coming, we’d be grateful if you could sign up as soon as possible to secure your place and to help us plan.
